Visiting the dentist during the COVID-19 pandemic

Why the additional fees?

Since June 1, with the gradual return to non-urgent dental treatments, certain clinics in Quebec decided to invoice additional fees to meet the new requirements involving the practice of dentistry in the context of a pandemic and to ensure the safety of patients.

The syndic of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec wishes to remind the public that dentists are governed by a professional code of conduct that requires them to notify their patients of applicable fees before charging them. The code also indicates that these fees must be fair and reasonable, in other words proportional to the services rendered and justified by the circumstances.

Patients who feel they have been charged unfair or excessive fees can contact the syndic of the Order, who, as needed, will look into the matter.
