Mission of the Order

The Ordre des dentistes du Québec was founded to protect the public. Its mission is to maintain quality dental services through adherence to high standards of practice and ethical conduct, and to promote oral health among Quebecers.

Mission of the Journal

The Journal de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec (the Journal), published by the Public Affairs and Communications Department, is a tool for strengthening the dental community. Its mission is to provide members with various information relating to the Order, in particular as concerns its activities, services, decisions and policies. The Journal also contributes to upgrading and maintaining dentists’ knowledge by publishing scientific articles on different aspects of dentistry.

Publication frequency

The Journal de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec is published four times a year.

Copyright

All articles, texts, illustrations and photos published in the Journal are the property of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec. When articles are accepted for publication, the copyright is transferred to the Journal de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec, which may later authorize the reproduction of part or all of the material published.

Authors interested in publishing an article in the Journal de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec should submit their manuscripts and illustrations by e-mail to the Editor of the Journal at journal@odq.qc.ca.

We encourage authors to submit short articles (about twelve double-spaced pages) dealing concisely with the topic. The scientific articles published in the Journal are intended to meet the needs of practising members of the profession or those wishing to remain abreast of advances in dental medicine.

Only original manuscripts, in French, submitted exclusively to the Journal will be considered for publication. All manuscripts will be submitted anonymously to scientific consultants for review. They will accept, refuse or ask for corrections to the manuscript, depending on its scientific and clinical value and its originality.

Articles submitted to the Journal and which are refused or for which corrections have been requested and the author has not followed up will be retained for a period of three years.

Author’s rights in connection with an article accepted for publication will be automatically transferred to the Journal de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec, which may authorize the partial or full reproduction of the articles it publishes.

Text

Articles should use subtitles after the introduction, ordered in this manner, in accordance with the Vancouver style guidelines: materials and methods, outcomes, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments and bibliography.

Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, on one side of the paper only, with margins of at least 3.5 cm. Pages are to be numbered consecutively.

Title page

The title page must include the title of the article, the authors’ given names, family names and academic credentials, the names of their departments and institutions, and the full name and address of the corresponding author to whom requests for reprints should be addressed.

Abstract

The second page must be abstracts of 150 to 200 words, in French and English, highlighting the objectives of the study or article, the main data, and the conclusions. Particular emphasis should be placed on the innovative quality or significance of the study or observations. The abstracts should list 3 to 5 keywords found in the Bibliodent thesaurus or Index Medicus.
