Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information

Since 2007, the Ordre des dentistes du Québec has been subject to the An Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, for all documents that it holds for the purpose of supervising the practice of the profession. Some adjustments have been made to the Act as it applies to professional orders (Division VI of the Professional Code, sections 108.1 to 108.11).

In addition, the Board of Directors of the Order adopted the Policy of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec regarding documents and information accessible without restriction. This policy allows the staff of the Order to provide information and documents accessible under the Act, on request.

Access to documents and the Protection of personal information officer

In accordance with the Professional Code, the President of the Order has made the Senior Legal Adviser of the Order responsible for access to documents and the protection of personal information. Note that the Syndic of the ODQ holds this responsibility with regard to documents and information obtained or held in the performance of his duties.
